Kindness: In my book I write all change has to start within ourselves. |

Kindness in words creates confidence. Kindness in thinking creates profoundness. Kindness in giving creates love. Lao Tzu.
In my book I write all change has to start within ourselves. We learn that we can’t change other people; we must practice and believe wholeheartedly the things we wish for the world and for our children. If you want people to understand how to love unconditionally, then you must practice it in your daily life. It starts with loving yourself unconditionally. I believe the greatest gifts we can give ourselves and to others don’t cost a dime yet are priceless and are worth more than any material item one can own. In today’s economy job loss is staggering and poverty levels that seemed to be only a worry for under developed nations are rising in North America. People are losing their homes; they can’t afford the insurance on their cars so they take them off the roads. More families are utilizing food banks. In my own community, I see the fear in the eyes of families where there was once joy. Stress levels are at an all time high as these families who were considered middle class struggle to make ends meet as they work to rediscover their passion and figure out how to rebuild after losing their jobs. This can happen to anyone of us at any time. As individuals, we may feel we don’t understand the problems that plaque our society let alone know how they can be solved or feel we have the power or capability to make changes. All you have to do is turn on the evening news and the number of problems that exist in this world can cripple the mind. The one thing as individuals we do have within our power is choice. Regardless of what is going on around us we can choose how we respond. I like to describe life as one big rollercoaster. There are continuously periods of highs and lows for which we buckle up and enjoy the ride. Each experience gives us an opportunity to learn and to grow as human beings. Each and every one of us despite our circumstance has the power to give. Expressing kindness can be in the form of a simple gesture that can turn fear into hope. Hope can restore belief in us, in our community, in humankind. I have always found that one of the greatest gifts one can give and receive is a hug. One should never under estimate the power of giving something so simple. The power of a hug can turn someone’s day around, simply by letting them know someone cares. How do you feel when you receive a hug? WE can choose to show and express kindness towards another at any given time. Whether we share a smile, hold the door open for someone, or by offering an hour of your time to babysit for a friend who needs a night out. These little acts of kindness make a difference, don’t underestimate their power. Don’t under estimate their power on you. When you learn to love yourself unconditionally, the gift of giving comes naturally and the feeling inside is one you never want to forget. We all have the power to influence change. It starts within us don’t deny yourself that gift. You deserve it! Don’t believe me? Give someone a hug today. Spend time with an old friend. Enjoy a hot bubble bath. Grab a nice cup of java and go for that walk. Extend your hand to a stranger. Smile and say hello to someone next to you. It won’t be long before you feel the magic that begins inside! It truly is the gift that keeps on giving! Warmly, Tracey Speares Owner Yes You Can Coaching Services
