Today I received a call from an unknown name/unknown number. The automated prompt message stated, this is your last opportunity to lower the interest rate on your credit card.
Read on.....
When a live operator came on the line she immediately wanted my charge card number. I replied that she should have my card number if in fact it was my bank calling. She told me that she was working for VISA and MasterCard to negotiate a lower interest rate. I then told her what a cleaver scam to get my charge card number. She immediately hung up.
I discussed this with a few of my friends and they have had similar experiences. I think a warning should go out everyone to beware. What a simple way to steal your ID.
