Devastation in Haiti : students trying to make a difference . |

As you are probably very aware , there has been a terrible tragedy in Haiti. The already poor , recovering country has been hit by a major earthquake, leaving many dead or stuck in the rubble . All of the citizens of Haiti are dangerously malnourished , dehydrated and wounded . There are numerous organizations that are doing what they can to help out the severe situation, such as the Canadian Red Cross . My grade 8 class discussed the problem , and came to the conclusion that we wanted to help in this global campaign . We really want to make a difference in our last year of elementary school and what better time than now , when these Haitians are quickly running out of time ?? Our class has already set about some ideas to raise awareness , and raise some money to send in to aid the devastation area . One of our best ideas was to contact local businesses and ask for donations . If you might want to donate a small portion of money to help (even $1-2 will help !! ) %100 of donations will be forwarded to the Red Cross . If you are interested in donating send your donation directly to our school (Steele St . Public School , 36 Steele st Barrie ) sometime this week , because these people are dying , and there's not much time . Thank you so much Steele Street School . |
