SPEAKING TIP OF THE MONTH by Malka

USE YOUR STAGE!!

One of the ways you can make your talks or presentations more interesting, is by making good use of your stage.

There will always be times when you don't have a lot of space to work with, but when you do, take advantage of it.

A simple example would be if your talk was divided up into past, present, and future, you could deliver each part from a different area of the stage.  Then once you've established those areas, you can refer back to them with a look, and your audience will understand.

Another way you could use your stage, is to start at the back centre (upstage) area, and then proceed to walk to the front of the stage (downstage).  Depending on your talk, whether you're making a different point, or perhaps building on a point, this could be a very effective means of using your body language.  As you come closer to your audience, your words gain more strength!!

Bottom line, you'll be grabbing attention, and you don't want to be boring!

Til next time!

Malka
