| During the low point of my unemployment in 2005 (after being laid off), I found an article in the "Toronto Star" about the virtual assistant industry. I was thrilled to discover how many different people from all walks of life had chosen this work-at-home profession. If I had realized it existed before, I would have started my company years ago! | |
| Trite though it may sound, I love helping out my clients who need a web presence but are not web-savvy. I hear the frustration in some of their voices every day and garner huge satisfaction from their excitement when they see a revamped web site or when they see their first product order come through their shopping cart. | |
| I live in rural Ontario, Canada and full-time employment is scarce in this area.
While employment in the "Big City" (Toronto) was available, I did not fancy returning to the two hour (one-way) commuting life style! |

| Learn when to be devoted to your clients and your work...and when to step back.
Hard work always pays off in the end...but this needs to be balanced against your own state of being. Working long hours and piling up mountains of stress will only end up with you being too sick to work (I know!). Never be afraid to ask for help or advice. It will always manifest itself when you need it. |
