NetWeaving vs NetWorking |
|
Regardless of the field, most who rise to the top do so largely based upon their ability to create and maintain meaningful relationships over time. But it's not just establishing relationships which separates those who are exceptional at building trust with others from those who lack this ability. Without good follow up and follow through, many of those relationships will never reach their full potential - the pinnacle of which is TRUST. And even where trust is established, in the absence of good follow up and follow through, over time, the trust will erode and eventually disappear.
A concept called NetWeaving may just be the best way ever created for not only developing meaningful relationships over time, but if the techniques for ‘following up' and even more importantly, for ‘following through' are mastered, a continually growing number of trusted relationships will be created.
Read More "NetWeaving" is a ‘Golden Rule' and ‘Pay It Forward' form of networking that helps demonstrate in every day life how persons, companies, and entire communities can grow and become more successful by helping others do the same. The three skill sets necessary for someone to become an accomplished NetWeaver include: 1) learning to become a consistent connector of others, with their Needs, Problems, and Opportunities in mind, rather than just your own. 2) learning how to ‘position' yourself as a ‘no-strings-attached' resource provider for others. . .and doing so simply because you sincerely believe that, what goes around. . .DOES come back around. 3) learning to go through life in a constant ‘search mode' for persons who are exceptionally good at what they do, regardless of their field or profession. And, when you identify such a person, you find a way to stay in touch and make him or her part of your Trusted Resource Network. NetWeaving doesn't represent an attack on traditional networking. . .especially if you're involved in any sales and marketing functions. NetWeaving involves a different mindset and a different approach. With most traditional networking activities, persons tend to be focused on identifying persons either who look to be a prospect for what they are offering or someone who can help them - either now, or at some point in the future. If that person meets one or both of those criteria, then a decision is made to try and establish a relationship with the person. If not, you often notice a switch from an eyeball-to-eyeball conversation to one where the person is looking over your shoulder searching for their next ‘landing strip'. With NetWeaving, the decision on whether or not you should try to build a relationship has almost nothing to do with the business or industry in which the person is engaged. And, it has nothing to do with whether or not you currently perceive this person as a ‘prospect' or someone who can help you. You make the decision based upon two simple criteria: 1) do you genuinely like the person and sense they are a ‘giver' and not someone totally self-absorbed?; 2) do you find the person interesting and someone whom you would genuinely like to get to know better? Time after time, NetWeaving has proven that in addition to the new friend-ships formed, the business eventually developed, as well as the referrals offered, will be many times greater with this brand of relationship-building, than from locating that ‘perfect' prospect who is always GOING to do business with you but never seems to get around to it, and never ends up referring anyone your way. by Bob Littell |
